Thomas J. Millikin, 85, passed away January 6th in Fort Myers, FL. Mr. Millikin was born in Hamilton, OH, the son of Jewett and Carolyn Suter Millikin on September 7, 1932. On July 21, 1956 he married Dorothy Fitzgerald of Elyria, OH and they were happily married for 61 years.
Mr. Millikin graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952. After attending Miami University (class of 1955) he graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law with a doctorate of law in 1957.

Thomas J. Millikin, 85, passed away January 6th in Fort Myers, FL. Mr. Millikin was born in Hamilton, OH, the son of Jewett and Carolyn Suter Millikin on September 7, 1932. On July 21, 1956 he married Dorothy Fitzgerald of Elyria, OH and they were happily married for 61 years.
Mr. Millikin graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952. After attending Miami University (class of 1955) he graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law with a doctorate of law in 1957.
Mr. Millikin entered the practice of law with the Millikin and Fitton Law Firm which was founded by his great great grandfather in 1840. It is one of the oldest continuing law firms in the state of Ohio. One of his first appointments was tax administrator for the new city of Fairfield, OH and established the first tax department for the city.
Mr. Millikin was active in the Butler County Bar Association where he twice served as president. He also served as assistant prosecutor under John F. Holcomb. He retired to Fort Myers, FL in 1989.
While in Hamilton, he served in the US Naval Reserve for 9 years. Mr. Millikin was a member of the city of Hamilton School Board. He was president of the Hamilton Community Foundation as well as serving on many of its committees. He was active in Historic Hamilton, the Butler County Mental Health Association and was an elder of the Front Street Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Millikin was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity as well as the Butler County, State of Ohio and Federal Bar Associations.
While in Fort Myers, Mr. Millikin volunteered at the Harry Chapin Food Bank and the Care and Rehabilitation of wildlife.
Mr. Millikin is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy "Bunny" Millikin of Fort Myers; daughters, Malinda M. King (Jeffery) of Fort Myers, Julie M. Kachic (Kenneth) of Columbus, OH; son, James F. Millikin (Tamyra) of Fort Myers; grandchildren, Kristen King, Rachel King, Lindsay Kachic-Quinlin (Joshua) and Thomas Kachic. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Andrew and sister, Eleanor M. Latimer.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation, 319 North Third Street, Hamilton, OH 45011.
